The simply act of lighting a candle, invites us to slow down and take time to pause. These 100% Australian beeswax candles are made from foundation sheets which beekeepers use to help the bees restart the build of new honeycomb (beekeepers use the natural colour sheets). Of all the waxes used for candle-making, beexwax is the ONLY natural wax. Free from chemicals, these are a wonderful reminder of how amazing are bees. The DIY means you can make your own candles simply by rolling the beeswax sheets. You determine the sizes.

Why beeswax candles?
Growing up I use to help mum with her candle making business. Decades later, when clearing out the family home, I came across a box of foundation beeswax sheets. Even after 40 years in storage the sheets still smelt fresh with strong honey aromas. It was unbelievable re-discovery. No mold, perfect condition. Being an art teacher at the time, I took them to school and offer the students the option to roll their own candles and showed them ways to work with the material. Well, they were hooked and before you knew it, they were selling them at school!!
So I'm on a mission.
When I see soooo many candles on the market, the awful marketing spin (untruths), the lack of real choices, I wanted people to be able to have chocie to make their own candles, use decent materials and actual have a quality candle. I started during lockdowns, become a celebrant, changed jobs to become a Community Engagement Officer with the Nan Tien Temple but still the candle love stayed with me because I enjoy them so much for rituals, decor and meditation.
Why beeswax is best?
It is naturally scented, non-toxic, with long burning times and little waste. If you are going to burn candles, at least make it beeswax. Of all the waxes used to make candles, beeswax is the only wax already in a wax state. The rest - paraffin (a petroleum by-product), Stearin ( animal fat and palm oil) and soy (hydrogenated plant oil) have all gone through a chemcial process, and most are bleached too.
Ceremonies
Strange how our important rituals involved candles: funerals, birthday cakes, meditations, making a commitment, prayers, chanting, even romactic dinners. I use to light a candle and read my children bedtime stories;it created a beautiful warm ambience and cosy contentment for us all.
